Abstract:A water resistance self-crosslinking acrylate modified with silicone was synthesized by semi-continuous seed process. The acrylic monomers, tripropylene glycol diacrylate (TPGDA), 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (KH560) were used as main materials. The structures and properties of the polymer were characterized by FT-IR, TEM, DSC, TGA, DLS. The polymerization technique was explored, then the effects of different proportions of emulsifier and initiator were studied. Simultaneously, the influences of TPGDA and KH560 on the particle size and stability of emulsion, and water resistance, water absorption and water contact angle of films were discussed. The results indicate that when semi-continuous seed process is used as polymerization method, and the amount of emulsifier is 4%, initiator is 0.3%, TPGDA is 0.15% and KH560 is 0.35%, the emulsion has excellent stability and the average particle size is 109.1 nm. The water contact angle of film is 81.5°, water absorption is 8.67% and the water resistance is up to 168 h.
