Abstract:Oxazolidone modified epoxy resin (OXEP) was synthesized through the reaction between 4,4'diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) and diglycidylether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) with an organic chromium as catalyst. The effects of feed ratio of [MDI]/[DGEBA] and reaction time on synthesis of OXEP were studied. A series of curing materials with different OXEP contents were prepared through OXEP and DGEBA cured with methyl tetrahydrophthalic anhydride (MTHPA). The results show that with increase of the OXEP content, i.e. heterocyclic oxazolidone content, the glass transition temperature, heat resistance, tensile strength, flexural strength and impact strength of curing materials are greatly improved.
