Abstract:Poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) and polyoxyethylene stearate ( PEOST) blends were prepared by the method of solution blending. The crystallization behavior of the blends were studied by DSC. The results show that when the mass fraction of PEOST reaches 5% , the crystallization temperature (Tc) of PBS is reduced about 10 ℃, instead the melting temperature (Tm) of PBS is improved about 3 ℃. However, the more content of PEOST added has little effect on the Tc and Tm of PBS. The ΔHc of PBS increases with the increase of PEOST content, while the ΔHm decreases first and then increases. The crystallization of PEOST belongs to confined crystallization. When the mass fraction of PEOST is less than 10%, no PEOST crystallization and melting peaks appear in the DSC curves, but emerge as the content is more than 20%. Also both Tc and Tm increase with the increase of PEOST content. When the mass fraction of PEOST is greater than 20%, the infrared response peaks of the PEOST crystals appear in the infrared spectra (1107 cm-1 and 841 cm-1). WAXD shows that the crystal structures of PBS are not changed by PEOST added. POM shows that the PBS crystal size in the blends with higher PEOST content is larger, and the characteristics of the spherulites are more obvious.
