The fluororubber was modified with polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) micro powders. The effects of PTFE modification on the mechanical, friction and wear properties were investigated by mechanical and block-ring frictionwear test machine, respectively. The reason for changes of friction and wear properties was discussed through mechanical properties, and the wear mechanism was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the tensile strength of the cured fluororubber decreases but the tear strength increases with the augmentation of PTFE content; the friction and wear properties of the modified fluororubber with the PTFE-content under 8% are improved, of which the volume wear rate and friction coefficient are both less than those of the unmodified;5% PTFE-content fluororubber has the best wearresisting while 10% content generates the lowest coefficient of friction.
