Abstract:In this paper, the mathematical methods applied for describing and predicting the mechanical properties of natural fibre-polymer composites(NFPCs) were briefly reviewed. The characteristics of these models were comprehensively analyzed, and then some common used models for NFPCs such as the rule of mixtures(ROM),Halpin-Tsai model,Cox model and Kelly-Tyson model were discussed in detail, and their advantages and disadvantages in practical application were also given. In addition, the importance of assumption and parametric in establishing models were pointed out. Finally, the potential application of these models on wood-plastic composites(WPCs) products was presented.
