Abstract:Polysilsesquioxane microspheres (PSQ) have attracted increasing interests because they have the excellent performance of inorganic/organic hybrid materials and unique effect of micro-sized particles. The polysilsesquioxane microspheres are classified into six types according to the substituents, including thiol-functionalized polysilsesquioxane microspheres (MPPSQ), amino-functionalized polysilsesquioxane microspheres (APPSQ), methyl-functionalized polysilsesquioxane microspheres (MPSQ), pheyl-functionalized polysilsesquioxane microspheres (PPSQ), vinyl-functionalized polysilsesquioxane microspheres (VPSQ) and polysilsesquioxane microspheres containing other groups. The synthesis route and application of each polysilsesquioxane were reviewed. Moreover, the advantages and disadvantages of each method were summarized.
