Abstract:A new kind of nonionic waterborne epoxy resin curing agent(p-PMAPEG-EP) containing hydrophilic polyether and epoxy resin segments were synthesized using bisphenol A epoxy resin(E51) and α,ω-para-phenylmethylamino polyethylene glycol(p-PMAPEG-EP). The structure of the synthesized products and emulsified particle morphology were characterized by FT-IR and SEM. The results show that p-PMAPEG exhibits excellent hydrophilic property, beneficial for the strong hydrogen bonds effect between the ether oxygen atoms in PEG chain segments and hydrogen atoms in H22O. The synthesized p-PMAPEG-EP has good property of emulsifying liquid epoxy resin and the dispersed phase average particle size of nonionic emulsions is about 50nm. Consequently, the p-PMAPEG-EP/E51 cross-linking polymer with good properties especially of low water absorption and excellent impact resistance is available, beneficial from introducing a low molecular weight hydrophilic PEG segment into the cross-linking networks via chemical linking with E51 and increased strain relax rates.
