A series of poly(butyl methacrylate-co-glycidyl methacrylate)-b-poly (dodecafluoroheptyl methacrylate)(PBGF)with different structure and compositions were synthesized by initiator continuous regeneration atom transfer radical polymerization (ICAR-ATRP).The influence of polymer structure and GMA content and on polymer properties and coating performance were explored. The structure and performance of the polymers were characterized by 1H-NMR, GPC, DSC, contact angle and other methods. The results show that the star-shaped fluorinated block polymers have lower glass transition temperature, viscosity and better water contact angles compared with linear polymers with the same chemical composition. When the mass fraction of GMA structural unit is 10%, the water contact angle of the cured coatings reaches 112°. Good UV aging resistance can be obtained when the star polymer is formulated with self-made alicyclic amine curing agent.
