Abstract:To further enhance the application of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) film in the field of antimicrobial technology, the antimicrobial agent curcumin-graphene oxide (Cur-GO) was prepared by adsorption of Cur on the surface of GO using curcumin (Cur) and graphene oxide (GO) as raw materials, and the antimicrobial film Cur-GO/PVB was synthesized by acetalization of PVB using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and n-butyl aldehyde as raw materials and the antimicrobial film Cur-GO/PVB (PCG film) was prepared by blending method. XPS, FT-IR, SEM, UV-Vis, TGA, water contact angle, mechanical property, dissolubility tests and bacteriostatic experiments were used to characterize the structure and test the performance of PCG films. The results show that Cur was successfully adsorbed on the surface of GO, and the UV transmittance of the prepared PCG films in the range of 200~400 nm is all below 29.9%; the onset mass loss temperature (341 ℃) and the maximum decomposition temperature (502 ℃) are both increased than thoee of the PVB film, and the heat-resistant property is significantly enhanced; the water contact angle is 65.8° at the stable time, and the tensile strength is 17.24 MPa. The elongation at break is 380.7%; the Cur-GO doped PVB films exhibit antibacterial activity of 90.1% and 89.7% against Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), respectively, through synergistic antimicrobial effects.
