Abstract:Deep eutectic solvents (DESs), as greener alternatives to ionic liquids (ILs), have attracted considerable interest for the fabrication of eutectic gels (DGels) as flexible sensing materials. However, achieving high mechanical strength without sacrificing high sensitivity remains a major challenge for DGels. Here, an interpenetrating poly(acrylic acid) (PAA)-based DGel was constructed by combining the mechanical/electrical reinforcement of polyaniline (PANI) nanorods with covalent mechanical strengthening enabled by polyurethane (PU). The resulting DGels deliver a tunable tensile strength of 1.07~7.44 MPa and a fracture elongation of 263%~3143%, together with high strain sensitivity within the strain range of 180%~700% (gauge factor, GF = 8.71), a fast response time of 102 ms and recovery time of 275 ms, and stable cycling performance. These results provide a practical strategy for engineering high-performance flexible strain-sensing materials based on DGels.
