In this paper, standards commonly used for determination of compression set for vulcanized rubber(ISO 815-1:2008, ASTM D395-03, JIS K6262-2006, and GB/T 7759-1996) were introduced, clauses of those standards were compared and analyzed. Factors that have substantial influence on compression set, including test specimen size, test method and the expression of test results, were interpreted. The deficiencies of GB/T 7759-1996 were pointed out, and the most likely causes for these deficiencies were analyzed. This paper aimed to help people concerned to understand the test results and the standards well, and can provide reference for adoption and application of the standards.
